“The following year I also participated in the Arnold Classic in Ohio, the competition that Arnold Schwarzenegger hosts himself.”

Starting at age 14 I joined a local gym to work on my body in order to become a stronger and fitter version of myself. Living an active lifestyle by hitting the weights caused my body to change; I got stronger, more muscular and I felt better about myself. However, at one point in time my progress came to a halt. I could not figure out the reason until I was challenged to my first bodybuilding contest at age 20. Preparing for this I knew I had to lose some extra bodyfat and learned that nutrition played a big role in this. Nutrition has always been of key interest to me, but I never realized that it could change my life so drastically. Once I started following a healthier lifestyle in terms of nutrition and supplementation, I literally watched my body transform throughout the following weeks. Being serious about my nutrition positively changed my body so much that I felt more ready than ever for my first bodybuilding competition.

"Nutrition has always been of key interest to me, but I never realized that it could change my life so drastically."

As a 20-year old junior I entered my first competition in Holland and immediately became the winner of the junior class and became the overall junior winner. This sparked a deep seeded motivation within me to commit myself to learn everything I can about nutrition. I changed my life around and started becoming a student of Nutrition and Dietetics, where for four consistent years I learned the role of nutrition according to science and literature. After learning more and more and having tasted victory, I competed in the same competition as before but on a higher level. This time I did not only win the junior class but I won the overall, making me the champion of the whole event as a 21-year old. This solidified for me that nutrition can change your entire life around in an upmost positive way. This in turn inspired other people to learn more about how I made these changes to my body and ultimately my mind.

Following the principle of sticking to nutrition based on science and experience, and winning a few more Dutch shows, I went on to compete internationally. I competed in the first ever Classic Physique bodybuilding show in London and become the first European to obtain my Pro-card by winning the overall of the Classic Physique Class at the Royal London Pro. Soon after that, I went to America to compete in Chicago where I won my first professional bodybuilding show which qualified me to compete at the most prestigious bodybuilding show in the world; The Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas. The following year I also participated in the Arnold Classic in Ohio, the competition that Arnold Schwarzenegger hosts himself.

"The research process and the results were so compelling that my research had been chosen to be presented at the international ESPEN congress in Poland and has been nominated for the Nestlé award for Nutrition and Dietetics"

Meanwhile I kept studying to expand my knowledge and decided to base my thesis on something that had never been researched before in depth; bodybuilders. I challenged myself and put my knowledge and experience to the test. The research process and the results were so compelling that my research had been chosen to be presented at the international ESPEN congress in Poland and has been nominated for the Nestlé award for Nutrition and Dietetics.

All of this has been made possible by realizing how important the role of proper nutrition and supplementation is within anyone’s lifestyle. Whether your goal is to build muscle, lose weight, become more fit or simply feel much better; nutrition will always play the number one role.

You are what you eat. Choose for quality.
